My Artist Statement
The greatest influence on my art is from time spent exploring in the woods of Pennsylvania in my childhood. Those days gave me a lifelong love and appreciation for nature, wildlife, and the outdoors. I brought these perspectives to Fort Worth, Texas, finding inspiration in the openness and rough resilience of the Texan landscape, from the prairies to the people.
My preferred mediums are oils, for their vibrant colors and expressive brushstrokes; watercolor for the fluidity and subtle evolution of the paintings; and clay for the opportunity to model with my hands.
I strive to capture the fleeting moments in nature around me, preserving a vanishing world, like the backyard prairie terraformed into a housing development. I tell the story of the surroundings through the lens of my emotions. Capturing not a landscape but a portrait of a place.
